Sea of Monsters Trailer #2!

Warning! May contain Sea of Monsters spoilers!

Hey! I'm just checking in with you for a very special post... My analysis of the second Sea of Monsters trailer!

First, watch it here:

OKAY, now analysis time! It's easier for me if I just make some bullet points here instead of writing in paragraph format. So here goes (I am writing this as I watch the trailer for the fifth time in the last 20 minutes xD):

  • Hey, it got a rating! PG! (I actually typed "PJO" instead of "PG" at first, haha.) Not that it matters to me, really. I'd see it anyway if it were rated G or PG-13 or whatever. It's Percy Jackson, for goodness' sake!
  • I love how "Anaklusmos" is on the handle of Riptide, and the little trident at the bottom is a nice touch.
  • What is all this talk about an annihilation prophecy? Are they talking about the Great Prophecy already? It's kind of early, don't you think?
  • I'm not sure how I feel about this new actor for Chiron, but I've only seen a few seconds of his acting, so I don't think I'm in the proper position to give a valid opinion (yet).
  • The forcefield physically breaking seems a little dramatic, and the bronze bull looks very frightening, but very awesome. As it should be, of course.
  • LUKE! HE'S NOT ACTUALLY DEAD!
  • I'm wondering about that shiny green thing in Luke's hand... Maybe it's something he acquired from Kronos?
  • From the trailer clips that have been released so far, Dionysus seems much more serious than a god of partying should be. His demeanor is much more... intimidating? Strong? Not laid-back? Hm. But he doesn't look lazy enough to be Dionysus.
  • The Chariot of Damnation scene looks amazingly done and totally crazy, as it should be. I guess it could be comparable to the Knight Bus from Harry Potter (with the crazy driver/supernatural vehicle elements), but the words "comparable to Harry Potter" shall not be uttered on this blog, because we all know that never ends well.
  • Hermes is literally my favorite character in this trailer. Love him. "Oh no! Not in here! ...Not in here."
  • They changed the release date on us! August 7th is the official date now. Mark your calendars!
  • No Annabeth, those aren't sharks. Those are Charybdis's teeth. I thought she was supposed to be a Daughter of Athena...?
  • Hermes's family line. I see that they kept that in there, which pleases me immensely.
  • Thalia!!!! (It actually took me a while to figure out that was her!)
  • I'm really confused about the big red scary thing with horns. I have absolutely no idea what that is supposed to be.
  • OKAY MOVIE PEOPLE, GIVE TYSON HIS TIME TO SHINE. LET HIM HAVE HIS MOMENT WITH THE COLCHIS BULLS. OKAY? WHY ARE YOU TAKING AWAY TYSON'S MOMENT?
  • Speaking of Tyson, in case anyone's wondering, Tyson has two eyes at some points [most likely] because he's in areas with mortals and the Mist is shielding his Cyclops eye.
  • When exactly did Riptide become a throwing knife? Sheesh.
Anyways, that's all I'm going to say. I'm not going to proofread this, so if there are typos or anything, you know why. I have some exams to study for, so I'll leave any other analyses to you guys! Feel free to comment and share your opinions and ideas. (I love hearing them!) :)

Character Awards Update

Hey, guys! I just wanted to let you know that I probably won't be posting Part 5 of the results show anytime soon. I have finals coming up later this week, so I've been trying to focus on that. They're over on May 31st, so I'll probably be able to pick it up sometime during the first week of June. Of course, I will definitely be doing a House of Hades cover analysis when it comes out on the 31st (!!!!!!!!!), so part 5 should be up sometime after that. I'm sorry to keep you waiting, but I just don't have enough time.

First Annual Character Awards Result Show, Part 4

Warning! Contains Mark of Athena spoilers!

(Character Awards theme music plays)

Apollo: And we're back! With us we have the Three Fates, presenting the award for... hmm, how appropriate... Most Heartbreaking Death!

(Three Fates enter stage)

Lachesis: Hello.

Clotho: We are here to present the award for the Most Heartbreaking Death.

Atropos: Which is most definitely our area.

Clotho: Our area? You mean your area!

Atropos: Don't look at me! Lachesis is the one who measures the strings!

Lachesis: Me? You're the one who breaks everyone's hearts! You pick the manner in which they die!

Hermes: Ladies.

Clotho: Oh. We apologize.

Lachesis: The nominees are...
Luke Castellan, who nobly sacrificed himself to defeat the Titan Kronos
Zoe Nightshade, who was poisoned by the dragon Ladon and fell in battle against her father, Atlas
Silena Beauregard, who perished after battling a drakon during the Battle of Manhattan
Charles Beckendorf, who was killed in the explosion of the Princess Andromeda
Bianca di Angelo, who died whilst attempting to shut off a prototype of Talos from the inside
Festus the automaton, who died after carrying Jason, Leo, and Piper through a blizzard, but was later "resurrected" by Leo Valdez for usage on the Argo II.
Atropos: Now, you can't blame me for that last one. That was all Khione.

Clotho: (ignoring her) The winner is... Zoe Nightshade!

(Audience claps half-heartedly, trying to hold back tears in their eyes. Zoe appears on the background screen, appearing live from Elysium)

Zoe: I am not quite sure how to react to this. I had lived on the earth for thousands of years, and it was my time to pass. It pleases me to know that I have served my Lady Artemis well. You should not feel sorrow over my death, for I knew it would come to pass eventually. However, it is a great honor to be so well-liked that my death would be considered heart-breaking. I thank thee very greatly.

(Zoe's face disappears from screen and Fates exit)

Hermes: That was truly touching.

Apollo: I'm sure my sister would agree that her legacy will live on forever.

Hermes: It is true.

Apollo: While you all dry your tears, we will take a short commercial break. I  will be backstage writing a poem about this heart-wrenching experience. (sniffles)

First Character Awards Result Show, Part 3

Warning! Contains Mark of Athena spoilers!

(Character Awards theme music plays)

Hermes: Good evening everyone! And welcome back to the First Annual Character Awards!

Apollo: We'd like to do a little quick series of awarding, because we have a small time-frame and a lot of awards to give. Please hold your applause until the end. Here we go.

Hermes: The nominees for "The Complete BOSS" are: Thalia Grace, Nico Di Angelo, Perseus Jackson, Clarisse La Rue, Reyna, Grover Underwood, and Leo Valdez. The award goes to Percy Jackson, who will receive all of his awards at once, later in the show.
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover
Nico

Clarisse
Reyna and Leo
Apollo: The next award is "Most Relatable Character". The nominees for that are Thalia Grace, Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, Luke Castellan, and Silena Beauregard. The winner of that is Annabeth Chase, who will also appear later in the show.
Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia
Percy and Rachel

Silena Beauregard
Hermes: The last award in this rapid-fire round is "Scariest Recurring Villain". The only nominees for that were Gaea and her children, Luke as Kronos, and Luke as himself, with the winner being Gaea and her children.

Luke as himself
Luke as Kronos
Gaea and her children
Apollo: Congratulations to all the winners! Well, except for Gaea, 'cause you're kinda creepy. Actually, I have a little poem for the winners...

Hermes: NO! (catches himself and pauses) I mean, uh, that wouldn't be necessary. Good job to all of the winners!

(Audience applauds)

Hermes: Moving on...

Apollo: I'm hurt, brother.

Hermes: (sympathetically, as he pats Apollo on shoulder) You'll get over it. It will be okay.

Apollo: Okay. As I was about to say, the next winner to be revealed is "Favorite Non-Canon Ship"!

Hermes: Apollo, would you like to explain to our viewers what a "ship" is?

Apollo: Of course. A ship is either two characters who are together/should be together according to some people, or just a big boat.

Hermes: And "non-canon" simply means that it's not happening. (whispers) Yet!

Apollo: (laughs) The nominees are... Perachel (Percy + Rachel), Leyna (Leo + Reyna), Lukabeth (Luke + Annabeth), Jeyna (Jason + Reyna), and Lazel (Leo + Hazel).

Apollo: AND... The winner is... LEYNA!

Reyna and Leo
(A thunder of applause erupts from the audience as Leo and Reyna get up from their seats. They are both confused and embarrassed, and it shows on their faces.)

Hermes: (handing them each awards) Congrats!

Leo: (cheerfully takes award) Thanks, dude! I mean, um, sir. (Under his breath) Score!

Reyna: (while gracefully accepting award) Thank you, everyone. While I am honored to win an award, I would like to make it clear that this is never going to happen.

Audience: BOOOOOO!

Reyna: (rolls eyes) Please, think about this.

(Leo's face falls.)

Leo: That's what you think now... I can change your mind.

Audience: Ooooo!

Reyna: (to Apollo and Hermes) Thank you, sirs. (She disregards the Audience as she returns to her seat)

Leo: Yours in demigodishness and all that! (Holds up peace sign) Peace out!

(Audience applauds crazily)

Hermes: We'll be right back with your pick for Coolest Child of the Big Three after these messages!

Commercial voice: Are you just dying to do nature magic? Or are you maybe just a lonely satyr who has nothing better to do? Well, whoever you are, get your reed pipes today! Call 1-800-NAT-RMGC* RIGHT NOW and get a second set absolutely FREE!

First Character Awards Result Show, Part 2

Warning! Contains Mark of Athena spoilers!

(Character Awards theme music plays)

Hermes: Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the First Annual Character Awards, coming to your screens live from Olympus, via Hephaestus TV!

(Audience cheers)

Apollo: Is anyone even watching this on TV? Like, seriously. Anyone who even cares is in the audience.

Hermes: Not true. Hygieia is home sick today, and she voted like crazy for these.

Apollo: Hygieia's sick? Yikes. Well, anyway. We were going to reveal the winner, weren't we?

Hermes: That's correct. And, our winner for Favorite Roman is...

(drumroll as Hermes opens the envelope)

Apollo: (while reading text on envelope) Hold up. I'll take this one.
Although quite clumsy,
He can become anything,
The winner is Frank.
(Camera pans to Frank in the audience. He is wearing a surprised yet cheerful expression)

(A tiny nymph brings out Frank's trophy and hands it to Hermes)

Frank's trophy

Hermes: Well? Are you gonna get up here to get your award?

(Frank gets up, still dazed. He walks up to the stage.)

Frank: (accepts trophy from Hermes)  Umm.. wow. Geez. I really wasn't expecting this. And it looks like an archer! Wow! Um, yeah.. I'd like to thank all of the kind people who voted for me, and um... yeah... I'm no good at speech-making... I really wasn't expecting this... So yeah. That's it. Thanks!

(Audience applauds)

Apollo: Well, we're happy to have you as a winner. Now get off of our stage. (Smiles and gives Frank a small push)

(Frank exits stage)

Hermes: That was a little rude, Apollo... (pauses as Apollo shrugs at his remark) Anyway, moving on! Our next treat that we have in store for you is a performance by a truly worldwide icon, and one of my favorite performers.

Apollo: It is my very own daughter, SHAKIRA! Take it away, darling.

(Shakira enters. Apollo and Hermes exit.)

Shakira: Hello! It is a pleasure to be with all of you amazing Olympians and fellow demigods! Congratulations to all of the winners, whether you know you're one yet or not. Okay. I'm gonna sing now.

(loud cheers erupt from the audience)

Hermes: Wow... How impressive! Give it up one more time for our special guest, SHAKIRA!

(Audience cheers once again)

Apollo: Thank you very much.

(Shakira bows then exits)

Hermes: Now that we've had that fabulous performance, let's move on to our next category!

Apollo: That category is... The Hottest of Them All!

Hermes: This category goes to everyone's favorite daughter of Aphrodite. The nominees are Piper McLean, Lacy, Silena Beauregard, Mitchell, and Drew Tanaka.

From left: Piper, Silena, Drew
Apollo: Here to present the award is no one other than the goddess of love herself... Aphrodite!

(Aphrodite enters stage and takes microphone and results envelope from Apollo)

Aphrodite: Hello! I'm happy to award this amazing award to... (opens envelope) my very own daughter, Silena!

(Audience applauds as Silena appears holding hands with Charles Beckendorf on screen in background)

Aphrodite: And here she is, live from Elysium!

Silena: What's going on? Wait... Oh, hi mom!

Aphrodite: Hello, darling! You just won the "Hottest of Them All" award!

Silena: (elated) AHHHH! That's awesome! Thank you! I love you all!

Beckendorf: (to Silena) I agree fully with those voters. (smiles and winks)

(Audience chuckles)

Aphrodite: Awwww! (makes hand-heart) Goodbye, sweethearts!

(Beckendorf and Silena smile and wave. Aphrodite exits stage.)

Hermes: Well, it's time for a commercial break! We'll be back soon with the next few awards!

(cuts to commercial)

Commercial Voice: Get your very own shoe wings from PINKGEEKSBOUTIQUE today! Available online in over ten different styles! (Note: Hephaestus TV is not responsible for any failed attempts to fly with these shoes--they don't actually fly! We are also not responsible for any demigods getting attacked by monsters while trying to use the internet to buy these.)

Blogger's note: Keep your eyes open... Part 3 should be published by or on Wednesday!

I'm so sorry! I know I said that Part 2 of the Character Awards result show would be up yesterday, but I started writing it and then I had to do stuff. I'm sorry that I haven't gotten it posted, and I might not able to post it tomorrow. SO, I will try my best to get it posted by Monday. Okay?

First Character Awards Result Show, Part 1

Warning! Contains Mark of Athena spoilers!

Apollo: Welcome, welcome! Thank you everyone for attending the First Annual Character Awards, sponsored by percyjacksonfandom.blogspot.com and Survey Monkey!

Hermes: We're here, broadcasting live from Mount Olympus. Tonight we'll treat you to special appearances from the several gods and goddesses, the Three Fates, and SHAKIRA! And, of course, we will be revealing the winners of the coveted Character Awards!

Apollo: In attendance we have all of your favorite gods, monsters (who aren't in Tartarus), mythical creatures, and demigods. The winners who are not here to receive their award for whatever reason will get their award via Hermes Express Mail! (chuckles lightly)

Hermes: (sarcastically) Oh, joy. Anyway, let's begin.

Apollo: No! Hold on. It's only appropriate that we begin this legendary event with a haiku.

(Audience groans)

Apollo: (clears throat)
Live from Olympus,
Apollo and Hermes host,
We've got some cool stuff.
Hermes:  (slowly) Okayyyy then... (returns to normal) First category!

Apollo: Presenting the award for Scariest Minor Villain/Antagonist is Athena, the wisdom goddess herself!

(Athena enters)

Athena: Hello all. This category is not really an award. It is more of a warning to you. Mortals, stay far away. Gods and demigods, do your best to fight it, him, or her, and save the mortals from distress. The nominees are...

Atlas

Ares
King Minos
Medusa
Arachne
Athena: And the winner is... (pauses and opens envelope) Arachne!

Hermes: Live from Tartarus is our very own Arachne, mother of all spiders!

(Live video feed of Arachne plays on screen in background)

Arachne: (cackles) I have fulfilled my duty. MWAHAHAHA! Stay away from me, wretched children of Athena! Don't worry (mockingly) almighty creator of the loom, I will get you back someday!

Athena: (snorts) Good luck with that.

(Live video feed cuts out, and Athena exits)

Apollo: Well, that was certainly... interesting. On to our next category!

Hermes: The next category is the category that honors the most beloved Roman demigod. The nominees were originally Reyna, Octavian, Frank Zhang, Hazel Levesque, Jason Grace, Julia, and Dakota. However, there was a three way tie, and the nominees were narrowed down to those three for additional voting. The no longer tied nominees are...

Frank Zhang
Hazel Levesque
Reyna
Apollo: The winner of the "Favorite Roman" award is...

Hermes: (cutting Apollo off) Going to be revealed, after the break!

(Audience boos)

(Cuts to commercial)
