My Riordan/Rowling Shelfie

Hi there!! :)

My school had a buy one get one free book fair a few weeks ago, so I decided to fill in some gaps in my Riordan collection. I was very excited to get...

Then, I decided to rearrange my book shelf so that they would fit in there somewhere. I ended up putting all of my Rick Riordan and Harry Potter books on one shelf.

Unfortunately, I think that I'm going to have to find a new home for the Harry Potter books once I get House of Hades and Blood of Olympus, but that won't be for quite some time. The setup works for now, and I guess if there isn't enough room for everything when the time comes, I'll just have to get a new bookshelf! ;)

...I'm on Yahoo Answers?!

I was just casually looking through my blog's statistics when I noticed a few links that people discovered my blog through. Usually, I don't click the links because a lot of them lead to malicious websites for whatever reason. (I'm not sure why. I also get a lot of strange spam comments.)

One of them was a Yahoo Answers link. I'm familiar with Yahoo Answers, and I know that it's not a dangerous website, so I decided to click the link. Then I found this.

Umm... Whoa? I had no idea that people actually, like... referred to my website like that. Umm. Yeah. I was kind of taken aback. THIS IS SO COOL! (I mean, sure, the asker thought I wasn't reliable, but I guess I'm sort of not too reliable from an objective standpoint...)

So yeah, that's my exciting story. I will keep giving you daily updates and posts leading up to the House of Hades release day. :)

As far as the wait goes...

Percy's Birthday

Happy birthday, Percy!!

Today, I celebrated Percy's birthday by wearing a blue shirt, drawing a trident on my hand, and baking blue chocolate chip cookies!

What did you do to celebrate?

Washington D.C.

WARNING! May contain Titan's Curse spoilers!

On Friday, I traveled to Washington D.C. for the day. I visited the National Museum of American History and (very briefly) the National Museum of Natural History. I didn't get a chance to go to the Air and Space Museum, like Percy did in the Titan's Curse. :/ (I know a few people who did, and they said it was really boring...) However, I did find some space food in the gift shop of the history museum! I would have been very prepared if a Nemean Lion would have chosen to attack me and my demigod friends. But I didn't get attacked by any monsters, so YAY!

I also got pretty close to the Washington Monument, which is an obelisk. I'm pretty sure it made an appearance in the Kane Chronicles, but it's been awhile since I read that, so I'm not quite sure.

Another thing that I loved about D.C. was all of the amazing architecture (I am a daughter of Athena, you know). A fair bit of it is Greek-inspired. I'm telling you, the Lincoln Memorial looks a LOT like the Parthenon from the outside. They also had a bookstore inside (which I sadly didn't get to explore)!

I had fun. If you ever get the chance to go to Washington, GO! It's very beautiful and interesting to walk around and explore.

Sea of Monsters Trailer Analysis

Warning! May contain Sea of Monsters spoilers!

I am super excited! The Sea of Monsters trailer was released yesterday in the previews before The Host film. If you missed my post on that, I suggest you go back and look for it! But, if you're too lazy for that, you can just click here to watch it. (Yes, the person recording it was a total fangirl. That only makes it better ;))

Trailer Summary: Percy voice over about being a half-blood and having a safe-haven until the borders were poisoned. Shots of ocean, Percy, blonde Annabeth, Tyson, Grover, Camp Half-Blood, Dionysus, etc. People wondering what happened to the camp borders. Talk about how Kronos is fated to rise again, and it shows the coffin-thingy where Kronos is rising from glowing. More about the borders, and someone says that they need the Golden Fleece to save the camp. They talk about how the Sea of Monsters is where the Fleece is, and how it's known as the Bermuda Triangle to mortals. Dionysus gives the quest to Clarisse. Percy and Annabeth knocking on Grover's cabin door and saying that they're going after the fleece. Dramatic music. Annabeth hailing the Chariot of Damnation and the Gray Sisters with their craziness. Tyson being cute. LUKE talking about resurrecting Kronos. Percy & co. asking Hermes for help. Hermes gives them the thermos, and Annabeth tries to twist the cap off. Hermes screams, "WHOA WHOA WHOA, not in here. Not in here." Percy summons hippocampi. Shot of Tyson and Rainbow (or at least that's who I'm presuming it is). Battle scenes. Bronze bulls. Lifeboat with Annabeth, Percy, and Tyson in the middle of the ocean being surrounded by sharks. "Tell me those aren't sharks," Annabeth says. Percy replies, "Those aren't sharks." Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters logo flashes on screen. Trailer ends.

Now, it's time for my analysis!

Oh my goodness, I am so excited about this movie. From the trailer, it looks so much better and closer to the book than the first was. To me, the second movie honestly didn't feel like it was ever going to happen until I saw this trailer.  But now that I've seen it, EPICNESS!! I'm trying not to set my expectations too high, considering the first movie, but this looks way better and way more accurate.

My first thought when I saw it was, "WHOA! The plot actually sounds... like the book!" Then I noticed Grover's presence. He obviously isn't kidnapped. In my opinion, that makes Percy and Annabeth look like attention seekers for wanting to find the fleece instead of Clarisse! Well, maybe there will be some alternate motive, but I don't know about that. And the part where the boat is surrounded by sharks... Grover isn't there! Maybe something happens to him WHILE they're on the quest. :o

Let's talk positive things, shall we? bo;waejksfthioabyvhubia DIONYSUS AND CLARISSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND TYSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I loved Percy's sarcastic line to Clarisse. I feel like Percy's humor was one thing that was cut out of the first movie, and of course that was a HUGE thing in the books. But I loved how they included Rainbow. And now they're bring Kronos into the picture! This is so amazing! I'm really glad that the movie makers took a hint and did a little bit of fanservice (AKA actually following the book). :) There actually isn't much to analyze... But I'm super excited now!

So yeah... that's it! Oh, and one more thing...

Pray for an appearance of Guinea Pig Percy.

Kane Chronicles/Heroes of Olympus Fanfiction by Me (Chapter 3)

Chapter 3

At that moment it felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders.
Phew. He didn’t mean magicians.

But what were demigods? I had never heard the word before! Before I could say anything, Carter stepped in.

“What are demigods? I mean, who?”

“I probably shouldn’t be telling this to mortals,” said Grover, “but demigods are half-bloods. They’re only half mortal.”

“And half…?”

“Half… god.”

Both Carter’s and my jaw dropped to the floor.

“Like… Egyptian god?” I asked cautiously. “Ra, Horus, Isis…?”

Grover looked confused for a moment. “Oh, sorry. I know what you mean now.” He laughed nervously. “Wrong culture. I’m talking about Greek gods. Zeus, Poseidon, Athena… Does that ring a bell?”

I shook my head, but Carter nodded. “I know a few things about them. You know, I read about them a little bit. But I don’t know that much.”

Before Grover could respond, I cut in. “Hey, I get that you’re looking for this Percy Jackson fellow and demigod people and all, but you still aren’t telling us how exactly you ended up in my bedroom!”

Grover looked intimidated for a moment. I felt kind of bad telling him off, but what else was I supposed to do? Let some random goat man into my house?

“But anyway, the reason I’m here: I sensed some powerful forces here. I thought maybe it was the aura of a very strong demigod. But looking at you now, you don’t really seem like
the type…”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I demanded.

“Nothing, nothing!” Grover replied quickly and frantically. I smirked with satisfaction.

“Look dude,” Carter said, “I think you found the wrong people here. We are most certainly not demigods.”

“You never know,” Grover said. “Demigods usually don’t. Do you have two parents?”

“No, goat boy,” I said. “We don’t have any. Goodbye!” I proceeded to give him a small push.

“Hey!” He sounded offended. “I didn’t mean to be nosy at all! I just wanted to know!”

“Listen, bubba. We had two parents. They died. Neither of them was a Greek god.  Kay? Good. Buh-bye!” I began to shove him back to the window.

“Sadie!” Carter exclaimed. “What are you thinking? Give Grover a chance!”

“No!” I said. “He’s crossed the line!”

Carter scoffed and pulled Grover out of my grip. “Sorry about that,” he said. “Sadie can get a bit… touchy. It’s nothing personal.”

Grover brushed off his clothing. “Nah, man. She’s right. I should be going.” He began to mount the pegasus.

“Wait!” Carter yelled.

Grover froze. “What?”

“If we were… demigods, what would you do with us?”

He walked up to Carter. “Now, if I tell you two this, you can’t tell anyone, okay?”

Carter nodded, then looked expectantly at me. I rolled my eyes and nodded also.

Grover took a shaky breath. “I would take you to… a camp,” he said. “This…camp is meant training demigods to use their powers properly, and protecting them.”

Carter hesitated. “Protect them…” he scratched his head. “Protect them from what?”

Grover pretended he didn’t hear that. “Well! I’d better be going then!” he exclaimed quickly. As he mounted Blackjack and prepared to take off, I did what was probably the stupidest thing that I’ve ever done. (And trust me, I’ve done some pretty stupid things.)

I mounted the horse.

“Sadie!” Carter yelled.

“Quick! Jump on!” I screamed back.

I looked back. Carter was standing there, simply dumbfounded. I could tell that he wasn't going to move; I’d have to leave him behind. Honestly, sometimes that boy can be a bloody chicken. “I’ll be back for dinner!” I yelled.

The pegasus took flight, hopefully moving toward this mysterious camp. I watched Brooklyn House get smaller and smaller as we rode off in the distance. Grover looked back, gasped, and then clutched his chest, like he’d just realized what happened. “What are you doing here?!”

I grinned and gave him a slight nudge. "You're stuck with me now, goat boy."

Kane Chronicles/Heroes of Olympus Fanfiction by Me! (Chapter Two)

Warning! May contain Kane Chronicles spoilers!

Chapter 2

“CARTER! COME HERE!” I hollered from the top of the stairs.

I placed my hand on my hip and tapped my foot on the ground impatiently. A minute later, Carter was standing by my side dressed in his blue and white striped bathrobe and Khufu (monkey, not Pharaoh) slippers.

“What do you want?” he groaned.

“Donkey boy. Turkey pony. My room. Now.”

I turned and strode off. Carter wore a look of confusion. He scratched his head and followed me down the hall. “This’d better not be one of your stupid pranks again, Sadie.” I rolled my eyes and kept walking.

As Carter walked into my room, his mouth fell open.

“Um… Hi?” Grover said.

Carter waved, still slow and dumbfounded. “F-F-F-Flying horse?”

“Oh, it gets better,” I said. “I see you found some pants, donkey boy.”

“Goat,” corrected Grover.

“Whatever.”

Carter plopped down on my bed, his face filled with disbelief. “I knew I saw that!” he muttered to himself. “I saw that flying horse. But nobody would believe me.”

“Well, I believe you now. Happy?” I said sarcastically. I turned to Grover. “Tell us your story, Mr. Goat.”

“I came here for a reason,” he said. “I was looking for someone. Someone special. And also a friend of mine.”

“What exactly do you mean by special?” said Carter. I was surprised to hear him speak. “Like, a girlfriend? And who’s your friend?”

I could have sworn I saw Grover blush. “Not a girlfriend… and nobody in particular. Well, actually, yes, someone in particular. I just don’t know who it is yet. And my friend’s name is Percy Jackson. Do you know him?”

The pegasus whinnied at the sound of Percy Jackson’s name.

“Sorry, that doesn’t ring a bell,” Carter replied. “But what do you mean by ‘special’? I still don’t get what you mean.”

Grover thought for a moment. Then he leaned in toward us. “I’m searching for people. People with special powers,” he confided.

My heart skipped a beat when he mentioned “people with special powers”. Who did I let into my house? Was this guy some sort of magician hunter? What had I done?

He leaned in closer, and I began to tremble. “These people,” he continued, “are called
demigods.”

Kane Chronicles/Heroes of Olympus Fanfiction by Me (Chapter 1)

Chapter 1

It was a perfectly ordinary morning at Brooklyn House until a bloody winged horse and stupid goat boy crashed into my bedroom window.

I was in my room, relaxing on my bed. I scooped some scrambled eggs into my mouth and stared intently at Carter’s “private” e-mail on my laptop screen. (If Carter asks: You didn’t hear that. Get that into your head. As far as he is concerned, I am not a talented computer genius hacker person.) All of a sudden, I heard a loud thunk come from the window.

Cautiously, I tip-toed toward the window and opened the curtain with a slight—okay, sizable—flourish. The face of a black winged horse smashed into my window. It continuously flapped its wings up and down, trying to stay in flight. On its back was a boy, maybe about seventeen years old. He had curly brown hair and a startled look on his face.

I blinked. A flying horse? I thought. I must be hallucinating!

I blinked again. Yep, it was still there.

“A little help here?” the boy said. “We’re kinda stuck!”

Still dumbfounded, I opened the window. The pegasus—that’s what they’re called, right?—zoomed into my room at what seemed to be the speed of light.

“Thanks,” the boy said.

I took one look at him and nearly passed out. His legs were covered in thick brown fur, and he had hooves for feet.

“No problem,” I managed. Instead of coming out as a casual comment, it came out in a little high-pitched squeak. “Who are you exactly?” I demanded. Good, I thought. I’m back to my usual demanding self.

“Well, I’m Grover,” the boy said, “and this is Blackjack.” He pointed to the horse.

“Grover… Like that blue chap from Sesame Street?”

“Uh…”

“Oh, never mind. I’m Sadie. Now, what are you doing in my house?”

“Umm…er…” He tugged at the ends of his orange shirt. “It’s kind of hard to explain.”

I let out an irritated sigh. “Well, in that case, come on in. I’ll find Carter. That’s my obnoxious brother, by the way. In the meanwhile, would you mind putting some pants on?”

Guess what, guys? I've gotten nearly 12.5K total views on my blog! That's HUGE, even if 2K of those are probably me! Thank you SO MUCH to anyone reading this! I remember having like, 20 total views, and all of them were me. THANK YOU FOR READING MY BLOG AND HAVE A NICE DAY!

I also have a little anecdote to tell you. I was at a mall that I don't usually go to tonight. I walked into Books-A-Million and started to squeal, jump up and down, and point at their copies of The Mark of Athena like a crazy person. Hey, I probably looked like a weirdo, but it was fun. :) I was in paradise there. I was like, "I'VE READ THAT BOOK! _________'S READ THAT BOOK! CASSJAYTUCK'S READ THAT BOOK! I'VE READ THAT BOOK, TOO!" And when I went to their Intermediate Readers and Teen sections....ooooooh my gosh. It was beautiful. I was gushing. And guys--HARRY POTTER MANIA. There was also a book called "Fifty Shades of Chicken". I laughed. xD I also fangirled at the Rick Riordan shelf. Ah, pure beauty.

Well, that's pretty much it! Oh, and if you haven't already, go take a look at percyjacksonforlife.blogspot.com. It's a really awesome, thought-provoking blog. Bye!

Winter Fun

 Hey guys!

Before I start, I must explain myself. I'd just like to say that I don't post on here unless:
  1. I have a random thought/realization/epiphany,
  2. something important happens (a new book comes out, Rick Riordan hints at something in a future book, etc),
  3. I get a comment that catches my eye,
  4. something important is announced (release date, tour dates, etc), or
  5. I do personally something related to PJO/HoO/TKC.

That would explain my lack of posts... but I'm back now! I did something that would fall into the category of #5.

Here in my lovely home of the northern (but not too far north) United States, about a week or two ago, we got an few inches of snow. It wasn't really much to brag about, but snow is snow, right?

Naturally, I wanted to go out and do something with it: make a fort, build a snowman, throw some snowballs, but, as I said, we didn't quite have enough snow to do that. Instead, I decided to write something, once with my finger, and once with my boot-prints. :)

TEAM LEO 5EVER!
