Percy/Carter Crossover Story!!

 YO YO YO!
I have some awesome news for you!
But, before I tell you, another blog, percyjacksonforlife.blogspot.com, has a fan-fiction contest going on, and the owner of the blog asked me to share it with you. It sounds really cool, so I'd encourage you to go enter! You can find some more details about that here.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I have to share the news with you.

You know how Uncle Rick said that he might write a Heroes/Kane crossover one day? Well, THAT DAY HAS COME!!!! It's not a full book, but it's a short story called Son of Sobek. It will be released on May 7th in the paperback version of the Serpent's Shadow. There will also be an e-book version available. It will be an e-book single, and also available in audiobook (narrated by Rick Riordan himself!) format, and priced accordingly. It's is about 40 printed pages long. p

For now, all we can do is wait... AND READ THE EXCERPT ON THE KANE CHRONICLES FACEBOOK PAGE! (Right here

Carter is the narrator. It's so perfect that I was close to tears! Oh, and there's also a cool article that Rick re-tweeted that talks about it. You can read that right here! :) At least we have something to hold us over until the House of Hades comes out. :)
Well, that's all for now! ENJOY THE EXCERPT, DEMI-MAGICIANS! :D

Official House of Hades Release Date!

Points of View

Warning! May contain Mark of Athena spoilers!

A lot of the speculation that is made about future Heroes books is whose points of view will be used. Percy has narrated twice (not including all of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books), Piper twice, Leo twice, and Frank, Hazel, Annabeth, and Jason once each. Whose point of view do we really need to see? Whose are we probably going to see? Is Uncle Rick going to include three, four, or more in House of Hades? There are so many questions to be answered! I'm going to break this down character by character and give you my opinion and thoughts on each! Please remember that this is mostly my opinion, not yours or what is/will be in the books. We each have a right to our own opinion and ideas, so feel free to state yours in the comments! (I love comments. :3)

Piper & Leo- Piper and Leo are definitely two good, respectable characters. In fact, Leo is one of my favorite characters. However, I don't think their points of view should or will end up in The House of Hades. They were both narrators in MoA, and neither of their perspectives are specifically necessary. (More on that later) Besides, we don't need more of Piper drooling over Jason 23/7. :P (Notice I made that 23/7, not 24/7. She's not TOTALLY infatuated with him. Okay, okay, I'll stop now... A lot of people hate me for my opinion on her as it is. :P)

Frank & Hazel- I've heard from some of my friends that Frank and Hazel aren't relatable enough, and I get that; they're new, they're Roman, and they've only had one POV each. I personally love them! I find it easier to relate to them because they have back-stories that we know, and that helps us get inside of their heads and know what they're thinking. However, I really would have liked a Roman's opinion on what was going on in the Mark of Athena, but we didn't get that. :/ They're great characters, but they badly need to be narrators. I'm thinking that one of them may have a House of Hades POV. We'll see!

Percy & Annabeth- Ah, the couple hanging out in Tartarus. A Percy or Annabeth perspective would be really helpful. Rick has already promised that we will know what is going on with them, but will it be through a direct POV or through Piper's knife or another demigod's dreams. Annabeth's POV was interesting, since it was the first time we've had a story from her POV. (Since when did Nico have a crush on her? o.O) Her thoughts are most definitely intriguing, but I don't think I'd like a Percy POV. We've had his POV in 7 books. Don't you think it's time for a break? Hopefully we'll have Annabeth's point of view in HoH, but I doubt it's going to happen. We'll probably see Percy and Annabeth through dreams or Katropis.

Nico- Nico is one point of view that I feel may just show up. He's definitely going to be an important character. I'm not sure how, but he will be. I think he'll be the leader of the quest while P&A are in Tartarus.

Reyna & Octavian- I LOVE Reyna. She's another one of my favorite characters, and she's SO well-written, but I don't think she'll be much more than another minor character, and I find it very unlikely that she'll be a POV. Same for Octavian.

Jason- I chose to speak of Jason last and separately because I have so much to say about him. I want Jason's POV so badly, because we know pretty much zilch about him so far. He's the only main character that we don't know very well. I mean, we've had Percy narrating for 7 books. Leo, Piper, Frank, and Hazel all have pasts (well, Hazel has two...) that we've read about. I want a Jason POV in House of Hades. We need to know his thoughts. We need to know more about his past. We need heroic Jason, the cool dude who defeated a giant. We need creeper Jason, the person that likes to watch Piper breathe. And most of all, we need a reminiscing Jason, so we can know more about him and what makes him him. Think about it; if someone asked you what Percy would do in a situation, you'd answer ten times faster than you would if someone asked about what Jason would do in a situation. We don't know him that well. We just know that he's a leader and son of Zeus, but not much else. I want to learn more about him.

Well, that's it! Let me know what you think. :)

This Blog's Appearance

Hey there! I've gotten a comment about the "Important Dates" section, and it got me thinking. When I view most of my posts, it's in my blogger account/dashboard, not in the blog itself, which is what you see. Do you think it's time for a revamp? I was considering it a few months ago, but I asked for some opinions and everyone seemed to like it the way it is. What do you think?

Achievements & Books-A-Million

Guess what, guys? I've gotten nearly 12.5K total views on my blog! That's HUGE, even if 2K of those are probably me! Thank you SO MUCH to anyone reading this! I remember having like, 20 total views, and all of them were me. THANK YOU FOR READING MY BLOG AND HAVE A NICE DAY!

I also have a little anecdote to tell you. I was at a mall that I don't usually go to tonight. I walked into Books-A-Million and started to squeal, jump up and down, and point at their copies of The Mark of Athena like a crazy person. Hey, I probably looked like a weirdo, but it was fun. :) I was in paradise there. I was like, "I'VE READ THAT BOOK! _________'S READ THAT BOOK! CASSJAYTUCK'S READ THAT BOOK! I'VE READ THAT BOOK, TOO!" And when I went to their Intermediate Readers and Teen sections....ooooooh my gosh. It was beautiful. I was gushing. And guys--HARRY POTTER MANIA. There was also a book called "Fifty Shades of Chicken". I laughed. xD I also fangirled at the Rick Riordan shelf. Ah, pure beauty.

Well, that's pretty much it! Oh, and if you haven't already, go take a look at percyjacksonforlife.blogspot.com. It's a really awesome, thought-provoking blog. Bye!

Can the makers of the Sea of Monsters (movie) still salvage the plot of the series?

Warning! May contain Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, and Battle of the Labyrinth spoilers!

Whoa! I can't believe it's been over a week since my last post! I've been so hard at work on this one, and at studying for midterm exams, that I didn't even notice how long it had been since I had actually published a post. Now, before I begin my rambling, I'd like to share with you this amazing new blog: percyjacksonforlife.blogspot.com. I myself am guilty of stalking it, and I look at its new posts every day. I love this blog a LOT, and if you'd like to read a blog that has more frequent posts (it's not really hard to beat me on that), this is perfect! (You know, not that it's not already perfect) It is, by far, my favorite blog, and it's the best Percy Jackson blog I've seen. Go check it out!

Now, back to topic. As you all [should] know, the movie adaptation of The Sea of Monsters wrapped filming last summer and is set for release later this year (August 16th, 2013). I'm sure that plenty of you are frustrated because of the mess that they called The Lightning Thief. Everyone that I talk to has a different stance on it, but the one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that they'll definitely be seeing the sequel. Some say that it's just for laughs, but most say that they honestly want to see what the makers of the movie will do with what they have. The real question is: Can the overall series plot still be salvaged? I've been thinking a lot about this. These are my thoughts on the matter.

First, let's consider the differences in the movie. The big one is definitely age difference (No, Annabeth fans, it's NOT hair color. That's already been fixed.), which, face it, is not able to be fixed. Obviously, the prophecies will have to be reworded, especially the great prophecy. (Percy looks way over sixteen already, and it's only the second movie!) Of course, that's providing that they choose to include those.

The second biggest difference is the entire plot, but probably even more importantly, Luke's [movie] death. How is Luke going to become Kronos if he's dead? Worry not, fellow demigods! Jake Abel has been included in the SoM cast listing, and there are photos of him on-set. Apparently he's magically alive again! I've heard a theory about how they may explain him being alive, and also Kronos, and I pretty much agree with it. Someone (I can't give credit, because this was a while ago) proposed the idea that Luke could have made a special deal with Kronos to let Kronos merge with him later in the series as he entered the Underworld, giving Luke a longer lifespan and the power to overthrow the gods and build a new world, like Luke wanted. This is also a way of introducing Kronos to the movie's viewers.

Another thing: Thalia. She wasn't even MENTIONED in the first movie! (They actually did bring her up, but the scene was later cut, which really baffles me.) Thalia has been cast, and she will be in the movie, but how are they going to explain a daughter of Zeus randomly popping up from a tree? My guess is that she will be mentioned at some point in the movie, and then she'll come back to life in the end. That's also when the credits will most likely start to roll... Cliffhangers keep people watching future movies!

The next big factor: Clarisse. I feel like movie Annabeth was a combination of book Annabeth and book Clarisse. It's almost scary. O_O Anyways, Leven Rambin (AKA Glimmer from the Hunger Games) landed the role of her, and I think that she can pull it off. Just look at her hostile role in The Hunger Games: someone with a role like that makes a perfect Clarisse! One thing that I'm wondering though, is how we're going to meet movie Clarisse, and if she'll be any different than book Clarisse. Personally, I find the whole noticing-them-while-they're-in-or-practicing-for-battle thing to be really tiresome, so I hope that it's not how she shows up, but it's possible. We may be introduced to her as a camper that Percy is already familiar with; after all, there was still summer left after The Lightning Thief took place, and SoM takes place almost a full year later. It could just be Percy going back to camp and bumping into her. Actually, I'm mostly leaning toward this, because it makes the most sense (to me, at least).

Something else that we weren't introduced to in the first movie was the concept of demigod dreams and their power and truth value. We all know that Percy's dreams, and Grover and Percy's empathy link, were what kept Percy informed of Grover's whereabouts and well-being. This will have to be introduced or omitted from the movie... Introduced would probably be the best choice.

If they end up following what I just outlined (which is highly unlikely, actually--these are just hunches/ideas), then most, or even all, of the problems should be ironed out, and they could most likely go on with the series with very few problems. There are still a lot more improving and changes to be done than what I outlined. We'll just have to see what the movie people do with it!

The Sea of Monsters Movie Updates

Hey there, half-bloods!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! :D

I haven't posted much lately. Hopefully, this will make up for everything that I didn't post. Believe it or not, this blog turned one year old two days ago! *throws confetti in the air* YAY! :D

In other news, I wanted to share some things about the Sea of Monsters movie. I haven't really posted about it in a while, with the Mark of Athena release and my aftershock and everything, so I thought now would be a good time to let you know what's going on with it. Heck, I didn't even know what was going on with it until I wrote this post!

Percy and Annabeth. That's all I know. (Source: http://www.fansshare.com/media/content1/550x298_alexandra-daddario-talks-percy-jackson--sea-of-monsters-1505.jpg)
I'm pretty sure that, on this blog, we've already discussed Annabeth being blonde, Clarisse and Thalia being cast, Chiron's actor being changed, the new director, etc. In this post, we'll discuss some things that we haven't discussed, and re-discuss things that we already have.

First: Release date. At first, the expected SoM release date was in March of this year, but it was later pushed back and everyone got confused. According to what I found from a simple Google search, the US release date is August 16th, 2013, and the UK release date is August 14th, 2013.

Next thing... The movie plotline. Alexandra Daddario (AKA Annabeth) stated in an interview that the movie makers were trying to follow and refer to the book a little bit more than they did in the first movie. How much? That's for us to find out in August. Right now, we can just hope for the best. Now, don't expect a mirror image; they're going to have to change some things to fix the mistakes, erm... modifications (as they call them in Hollywood), that they made in the first movie.

Another thing that I read online that I'm not quite sure about is about the film being converted into 3D. I honestly don't think that I'll watch it in 3D if it is in 3D (I haven't watched any of the Harry Potter movies like that), but that's me. I don't know whether or not this is true, but we can hope.

To wrap up this post, I'd like to give you a little YouTube video you can fangirl/fanboy over. Courtesy of my wonderful friend who showed it to me. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcHS40v06QM
